Romance de la luna, luna

I decided to illustrate one of my favorite book of poems: Romancero Gitano, written by the great Spanish poet, Federico García Lorca. 

My illustration represents the first poem,Romance de la luna, luna,  it is set in a long-forgotten Andalusia. The moon incarnate tries to kidnap a little gypsy boy. Despite of the wariness of the boy, she finally takes him with her, up into the night sky. The poor gypsies are unable to save the boy from the selfish Moon. 

This illustration in particular is inspired by one of my favorite artists, Mingjue Helen Chen.
